When I paint, I hold a collection of ideas and aesthetics in my mind but I do not have a clear sense of the final image.
Sometimes, the final painting arises from the first few layers of paint, other times it emerges after many layers. This artwork, “Emergence” is the product of very many layers of paint, adding and erasing colour and marks, to explore human emotional depth and richness. Painted in this way, Emergence, reflects a visual depth and richness.
There are recurring themes in my work such as subtlety or obscurity which I often represent with lost and found edges, blending and glazing techniques.
Here, I have taken a slightly bolder approach using more abstraction and a warmer colour palette.
The artwork has my signature energetic brushwork with swirling patterns. In a slight change of direction, here I use warm tones of browns, oranges, pinks, and hints of yellow.
This is an artwork that would suit a home with vibrancy and personality, a beautiful focal point within a room decorated with neutrals, providing a warm contrast and creating a warm and welcoming environment.
Are you looking into a fiery sunset or the heart of a blooming flower?
The beauty of abstraction is that we each get to decide.
An artwork that bring energy and warmth, a sense of movement captured in the brushstrokes, a feeling of time and place.
Emergence.
How does my painting land with you?
