Helen Grimbleby: Capturing the soul of land and sea

Original paintings inspired by nature

Coastal

Serene view of waves meeting the shore, abstract waves and rocky coastlines.

Landscape

Shining light on rolling hills, expansive fields, magnificent skies and ancient woodlands.

My Journey

I love the sense of peace and calm that comes with an expansive view

Roots

Early Inspirations

My childhood was spent running, running with horses, running with friends and running over fields back home for dinner - late again!

Creative Process

All of my work begins outdoors. Sometimes it is complete outdoors. Other times my time outdoors gives the start of an idea which I work on in the studio.

I work in oils, acrylics and occasionally in mixed media.

For my whole life, being outside in nature has calmed and soothed a sensitive soul.

I began painting in in the last century!

In last few years I have been on a personal quest to hone my painting skills and to find my artistic voice.

My work now takes something from impressionism, expressionism and the sublime. I seek to imbue the feelings of place in my paintings whilst still retaining enough information for them to clearly read as landscape paintings.

Inspired by Cezanne, Joan Eardley, Turner, Ravilious and Battershill.
